Doing some “harmless” screwing around with your friends?
Not really looking for trouble but not entirely innocent either?
Well, odds are you won’t get caught, but…what happens if you do?
Do
you think if you are a clean-cut white kid from
What if one of your friends has drugs on him that you didn’t know about?
Everything changes.
Suddenly you are standing in some very deep shit.
Think you won’t be arrested? Do you think you can’t go to jail?
Sorry to tell you this but…you can.
The cops and the state prosecutor DO NOT want you to know the rules or your rights.
Your
parents and your defense attorney will be damn glad you did.
If you’re ignorant about how cops and the “justice” system works (which you probably are)
the situation will almost certainly go from bad to worse.
Believe it.
Now you are really screwed.
Suspended or expelled from school.
Fingerprints and mug shots. Lawyers, court, probation, juvie or jail.
College dreams out the window.
It DOES NOT have to be this way.
In school they teach you about sex.
They teach you about equality. They teach you about drugs.
They teach you about smoking and about how to get into college.
For some reason, there is something terribly important that they will not teach you.
Not because it is wrong or bad, because your teachers and parents just don’t get it.
They never stopped to understand how knowing this stuff can save your life from ruin.
What if the cops yell “stop” and I think I can get away, should I try it? Can they shoot me? Will they?
If I’m in the car with my friends, we get stopped, and one of them is holding? Am I busted too or can I walk?
My girlfriend gets pregnant. Can I get charged with statutory rape? How can that be…she is older than I am.
Do I have to submit to a pat-down if a cop ask me to? What about a sobriety test? What if I’m not even driving?
Is a pocket knife a concealed weapon if it is in my pocket? Is a cigarette lighter an incendiary device?
Do I have to answer or open the door to my house just because the cops want me to?
If a cop asks me, do I have to give my name and address or can I just shut up?
Can cops force me to answer their questions if I don’t want to? If I am not under arrest, can I leave?
Can a cop stop me if I am just walking down the street? What is “probable cause” and how can I avoid creating it?
What are the important laws on Search and Seizure? Can an arrest record end up in my school file?
If my friend wrecks my dad’s car, can my family get sued? Is it my fault if he was drunk or reckless?
Is it true that a bowie knife is legal but a butterfly knife is illegal?
Would possession of a concealed weapon (knife) compound a criminal charge?
Is
possession of drug paraphernalia illegal
even if I have no drugs?
Do cops really lie? Would a cop really plant drugs in my car just
to arrest me?
I’ve heard people say that during a stop, the cop is the judge and the jury…is this true?
If my buddy has a stash in his car that I didn’t know about, can I go down for it in a bust?
What’s the worst case scenario if I get caught breaking curfew?
Do I really have any rights or am I at the total mercy of the cops? What happens right after an arrest?
